Teletrac Navman

Teletrac Navman is US-based organisation that provides cloud-based GPS fleet tracking software to operators, allowing them to monitor their vehicles in real time. They provide GPS location tracking for both powered and non-powered assets, fuel usage monitoring, and maintenance record management of their vehicles.

Fleet managers know that practising safe driving habits is important for many reasons. First and foremost, it protects drivers and the general public on the road. But safe driving also lowers operating costs, reduces loss and preserves an organisation’s good record with regulators and insurers.

Teletrac Navman worked with its customers to identify the link between drivers with a bad attitude and their impact on vehicle and driver safety: higher levels of vehicle wear and tear, increased fuel consumption and greater crash risk.

The Platform

The DIRECTOR platform enables fleet managers to monitor driver behaviour using a system of scorecards and driver behaviour league tables that show good and bad driving. This allows them to monitor performance, spot trends and provide additional training to drivers where required.

“The DIRECTOR software is designed to help to uncover information that might otherwise go unnoticed, including information about drivers’ attitudes and their wellbeing.”

The scorecards and league tables encourage driver engagement with the technology, they get drivers talking among themselves, and this in turn gives a greater focus to the importance of good driving styles.

Driver safety is an important part of any risk management strategy. The DIRECTOR software is designed to help to uncover information that might otherwise go unnoticed, including information about drivers’ attitudes and their wellbeing. This can then be used by managers to reduce risk to drivers and other road users.

Conclusions

The DIRECTOR platform offers fleets the opportunity to address dangerous driving behaviours, utilising fleet management software to reinforce safe driving practices and equip drivers to handle the unexpected; reduce their risk and save money.
