Mobileye

Mobileye is a global provider of active safety systems, including ADAS technology, early warning detection systems and autonomous driving technologies. It also provides aftermarket safety packages as a means of integrating active safety systems into older vehicle models.

Studies indicate that although demand for active safety systems to be fitted as standard in new vehicles is increasing,[1],[2] the average age of vehicles on the road is also increasing, leaving a high number of vehicles on the road without any form of safety system (active or passive).

Aftermarket safety packages enable fleet managers to update older vehicles before the vehicle’s end of life cycle is complete. These packages can include systems such as ISA and LDW, to help reduce road risk, no matter the age of the vehicle.

“The average age of vehicles on the road is also increasing, leaving a high number of vehicles on the road without any form of safety system (active or passive).”

A pilot study into the Mobileye Shield+ by Washington State indicated that none of the 35 buses installed with the aftermarket safety package was involved in a crash during the three-month study period, in comparison with a control group (without the safety package) that were involved in 284 crashes during the same period. The study also revealed that installing the safety package could reduce a fleet’s insurance claims by up to 58.5%.[3]
