Fundación MAPFRE is a non-profit organisation that promotes safer and healthier lifestyles, with ongoing campaigns mostly in Spain, Malta, Turkey and across Latin America.
Fundación MAPFRE’s work focuses on five key factors: social action; positive health and safety cultures; road safety and crash prevention; healthier living; and social protection.
Fundación MAPFRE uses the World Health Organization (WHO) definition of ‘health’, which recognises that health cannot be limited to the physical wellbeing of an individual, but includes their mental (and social) wellbeing as well. This is particularly relevant in the workplace, where an employee’s health and wellbeing can strongly affect both productivity and performance.[1]
To promote safer, healthier fleets, Fundación MAPFRE has developed an holistic driver training programme called ‘Tu Empresa’ [Your Company].
Tu Empresa is an online training programme for drivers that fleet managers can either host on their organisation’s intranet or access via the Fundación MAPFRE website. The programme provides a range of up-to-date, engaging and accessible content, including videos, infographics, podcasts and seminars.
“Fundación MAPFRE’s work focuses on five key factors: social action; positive health and safety cultures; road safety and crash prevention; healthier living; and social protection.”
Training comprises e-learning modules separated into three courses:
Common factors. Simple messages that promote safer driving, relevant to daily driving tasks undertaken by professional drivers and employees who drive to and from work.
Professional. Specialised courses tailored to the requirements of people who drive for work (e.g. information on driving construction vehicles or safer van deliveries).
Legislation. The legal requirements related to driving in various countries (e.g. loading requirements, rest breaks, etc.).
Organisations that subscribe to Tu Empresa can select modules from all three courses, tailoring the training programme to reflect the risks and requirements of their fleet. The programme also includes a teaching module that enables fleet managers to share key safety messages with employees. All courses include an assessment examination and, upon completion, trainees are presented with a final certificate.
Tu Empresa provides a range of promotional materials, including posters, leaflets and fliers. Subscribers can also host information such as road safety strategies or safety management regulations on the Tu Empresa web portal.
