New webinar series launched to give champions the essential elements of running a fleet safety programme

21 March 2019

The first event in the new Essentials of fleet safety webinar series took place on Tuesday 19 March. The Essentials of Fleet Safety is a series of five, 60-minute webinars to give champions the essential elements of running a fleet safety programme. The webinars are based on the five pillars of the Global Fleet Champions campaign.

The first event in the series focused on the driver behaviour pillar and was sponsored by Allianz.

At the webinar delegates learnt how to write and implement an effective fleet safety policy and driver handbook and how to plan and deliver an effective driver training and education programme.

Driver error contributes to many crashes and is often the main cause. For many employees, driving is the most dangerous activity they undertake at work. All organisations with employees who drive for work should adopt a road safety culture backed up by policies, procedures and effective driver training and education to keep their drivers, vehicles and the public as safe as possible on the roads.

A recording of the webinar is available to view here.

The next webinar in the series focuses on the community outreach pillar and will discuss how to:

  • inspire, inform and engage different audiences on road safety issues, including staff, contractors, your local communities and government; and
  • get involved with simple events and campaigns to engage with your communities.
