Guide published for achieving safe and sustainable journeys

21 June 2021

A new guide to safe and sustainable journey policies, based on input from fleet safety experts, is now available to download for free.

Global Fleet Champions members can now access a factsheet explaining the key elements of creating a safe and sustainable journeys policy, and how to successfully implement one in their own organisations.

The resource is based on a roundtable event that took place on 23 March and was chaired by Matthew Hammond, Head of Fleet at Altrad.

Attendees from across the fleet safety landscape discussed topics including: how to create the right culture for implementing new safety policies and procedures; increasing engagement with new policies through education and communication; and the technologies that can make policies more likely to succeed.

A well-integrated safe and sustainable journeys policy is essential for any organisation that employs people who drive for work.

By introducing such a policy, fleet organisations can achieve:

  • fewer collisions and other road incidents;
  • lower repair costs and insurance premiums;
  • reduced vehicle downtime;
  • improved corporate reputation;
  • better staff morale and wellbeing; and
  • cleaner, safer air in your communities.

The next Global Fleet Champions roundtable, focusing on driver health and wellbeing, will take place on Tuesday 13 July. Attendance at this event is by invitation only, however we welcome interest from fleet operators, suppliers, associations and statutory agencies. If you are interested in attending or would like to be sent a summary of the topics discussed at the roundtable, please email [email protected].plus add link to roundtable page

You can download the factsheet here.
