Global Fleet Champions webinar discusses the important role organisations can play in influencing safe and healthy mobility in the communities where they work

3 April 2019

The second event in the new Essentials of fleet safety webinar series took place on Tuesday 02 April. The Essentials of Fleet Safety is a series of five, 60-minute webinars to give champions the essential elements of running a fleet safety programme. The webinars are based on the five pillars of the Global Fleet Champions campaign.

The second event in the series focused on community outreach and was sponsored by Arval UK.

At the webinar delegates learnt how to inspire, inform and engage different audiences on road safety issues and how to get involved with simple events and campaigns to engage with their communities.

Sarah Plumb, senior fleet officer at Brake, said : “Organisations not only have a duty of care for their drivers and vehicles but for the communities in which they operate. Community outreach work can bring a number of potential additional benefits to organisations helping to develop a good reputation among potential customers and other stakeholders, such as staff and their families.”

A recording of the webinar is available to view here.

The next webinar in the series focuses on the Incident analysis and intervention pillar and will discuss how to:

  • write an annual safety and sustainability plan with key performance indicators for collisions (fatal, slight, serious and non-injury) and emissions resulting from transport usage;
  • methodologies for collecting data; and
  • pre- and post-crash analysis techniques.
