Fleet safety best practices shared at Virtual Fleet & Mobility Live 2020

11 November 2020

Next week Fleet News will run its first-ever virtual event for the fleet and mobility community, Fleet & Mobility Live 2020.

Virtual Fleet & Mobility Live will feature advice, guidance and best practice from leading fleet sector experts on the topics of greatest importance to fleet decision-makers.

The online conference aims to feature case studies from award-winning fleets on how to run the safest, most efficient and most effective operations.

It will be held from 17-19 November.

Sessions include:

  • Day 1, 16:00 – 16:30 | Running a safe fleet

A case study from a fleet safety pioneer on the steps they took to improve safety and reduce risk in their business. Those attending the session will come away with practical solutions they can implement in their own business.

  • Day 2, 12:00 – 12:30 | Mental health and wellbeing: Looking after your drivers

Driver wellbeing, managing risk and fatigue will be explored in this session with best practice advice from transport behavioural and mental health specialists.

  • Day 2, 16:00 – 16:30 | How the direct vision standard will affect your fleet

This session will look at the Direct Vision Standards which all fleets need to adhere to by March 31, 2021 (delayed from the original 2020 launch) for vehicles of 12 tonnes and heavier. What are the standards, how do you comply, how do they impact your operations, what is the enforcement zone, how do you apply, what is the star rating, what is the progressive safe system, what are the benefits (will it improve safety) and are there any downsides, are among the topics this session will cover.

  • Day 3, 10:00 – 10:30 | Running a safe fleet

Fleet News Awards safe fleet of the year winner Altrad reveals its risk management and safety policy, providing fleets key key insights that will help them make their own improvements in safety.

  • Day 3, 14:00 – 14:30 | Safety and efficiency on a connected strategic road network

How Highways England is using big data to unlock smart motorways, tackle safety and reduce congestion on the strategic road network, plus a look at the Roads Investment Strategy 2 (RIS2), and what it means for your fleet operations. Also considering the implications of connected road infrastructure projects, including the CAVIAR initiative.

Fleet News editor-in-chief Stephen Briers said: “This is a must-attend event. It is packed with top quality content across three days and lots of thrilling features that are only possible because of the virtual format. We promise that this will be a fantastic show that every fleet decision-maker will benefit from attending.”
