Global Fleet Champions Spotlights are short, focused webinars to help anyone who employs people who drive for work to manage road risk within their organisation. Each Spotlight provides in-depth insight into a particular topic relevant to your fleet safety programme.
Speed matters for safe journeys. The faster a vehicle is travelling, the more likely it is to be involved in a crash, and the harder it will hit if a collision occurs. Managing driver speed is therefore essential to running a safer vehicle fleet.
In this webinar you will learn:
- The psychological and environmental factors that tempt drivers to speed
- How your own scheduling and routing policies may inadvertently encourage speeding
- How speed correlates with crash risk
- Technologies and policies you can use to reduce speeding in your fleet
Speaker:
Dr Shaun Helman, TRL
Shaun is TRL’s Chief Scientist for Behavioural and Data Sciences. He is an applied cognitive and social psychologist with nearly two decades’ experience in road safety, road user behaviour, and human-technology integration. His research and commentary focus on raising the standards of evaluation and evidence in the transport domain, including research into automated driving technologies, low-emission vehicles, and the emergence of new models of the movement of people and goods such as shared mobility.
