When buying, hiring or leasing new vehicles, it is essential that fleet managers make safety their primary consideration and introduce the safest vehicles available into their fleet within the constraints of their budgets. This means choosing vehicles with systems that can help prevent crashes from occurring or reduce the likelihood of death or injury if a crash does occur.
Vehicles must also be maintained to high safety standards, usually stipulated by the manufacturer. Vehicles should be checked regularly, by people qualified to do the task.
